Styled Flatlay Photographer

I absolutely love being a styled flatlay photographer because of the creativity involved. Styling products with props in an artistic way that helps tell a story continually feels like a fun challenge. Today I’m sharing images from a styled flatlay brand session I created for EIDHA. EIDHA is a London based perfume company. While I have taken photos of EIDHA products in the past, this shoot was my first time digging in a little deeper to find items to represent multiple ingredients of the fragrances (some of which are tough to find at the store) and artfully style them together with the products in flatlays.

Fragrance Photography

Fragrance photography is so fun because the perfumes smell amazing. I really enjoy finding ingredients and props and arranging them together with the perfumes. I want to help viewers instantly connect different scents with the fragrance and start to imagine how it smells. This becomes little bit of a creative challenge sometimes too, depending on the ingredients.

For example, the Sleep perfume consists of mainly lavender, lemon and rosemary. I located lemon and rosemary at a basic grocery store, and lavender at Trader Joe’s. (Sadly, now that I’ve moved to Logan, the nearest Trader Joe’s lies an agonizing 1.5 hours away from me! I’m devastated about that since Trader Joe’s is the best place to buy florals and greenery!) However, the Anxiety perfume is made of frankincense, patchouli, grapefruit, and cloves. Frankincense and patchouli are not easy to source, so I had to use some similarly colored vase filler rocks from the craft store instead to style together with the grapefruit and cloves. I really enjoyed styling these lovely fragrances with beautiful natural ingredients and love how the images turned out!
